Excavation
Whether building to the client’s, the land manager’s or Gold Book standards, Ponderosa utilizes the Best Management Practices to reach and exceed the client’s expectation in energy field excavation. Where desired, Ponderosa has the depth of services to provide efficiency and effectiveness through integration of storm water, erosion control, traffic flow, gas/fluid transport, facility construction and restoration into each construction project. Ponderosa strives to provide competitive excavation, while showing sensitivity to the ecological impacts and disturbed footprint. Whether building locations, roads, evaporation ponds or restoration contours, Ponderosa has the experience and ability to produce superior results for our clients.
Heavy Equipment
Ponderosa maintains a dedicated fleet of dependable heavy equipment and experienced operators to meet the energy industry needs. Specialized equipment is available through our network of heavy equipment suppliers. Our in-house fleet includes but is not limited to:
- Caterpillar D8 Dozers

Explosives
Ponderosa crews are licensed through BATF&E to provide blasting services. Ponderosa employees are qualified to serve as Responsible Person, Blasters In Charge, and/or Employee Handlers. Crews utilize DynoNobel training, supplies, and blast design services, as needed. Ponderosa can help with your location, pipeline, or specialized blasting needs.
Operators
Ponderosa operators are trained and/or demonstrate proficiency on specific equipment prior to becoming certified for equipment operation. All short service employees are mentored by experienced operators or supervisors. All operators are trained in proper soil harvest and segregation, ROW and permit protocol, safety considerations and Best Management Excavation Practices.
Pipelining
Ponderosa has the experience and equipment necessary to meet your needs for construction and maintenance of your unregulated flow, collection and gathering pipelines. Ponderosa has experience working with HDPE, PVC/ABS, steel, fiberspar and flexsteel lines. We have the ability and expertise to excavate, hammer, saw or blast trenches through an array of substrates.
Ponderosa’s staff includes operators and laborers OpQual certifies to excavate and maintain regulated pipelines. Ponderosa employees are trained in trenching and shoring techniques and meet OSHA 7410 standards. Integrating our pipeline, environmental, roustabout and excavation services provides our clients with total coverage for their transport line needs.
Ponderosa’s ability to deliver quality environmental services, coupled with out expertise in earthwork and pipelining provide efficient, effective, integrated solutions to your development, production and delivery programs.
Environmental
In response to in-house expertise and interest expressed by local energy clients, Ponderosa initiated an environmental program in 2008. Ponderosa environmental employees have years of experience gleaned from public and private work in energy field and wildland restoration and management.
